Robert Randall Obituary

Robert H. Randall, affectionately known as “Bobby,” was born on February 21, 1949, at Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn, New York, to Robert H. Randall, Sr. and Janice Randall. He departed this life on February 18, 2026, in Middletown, Delaware, just days before celebrating his 77th birthday. Robert lived a life defined by strength, service, discipline, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. From a young age, he demonstrated remarkable determination, leaving Automotive High School in the tenth grade to enlist in the United States Marine Corps—a decision that marked the beginning of a lifetime of achievement. After his military service, he earned his high school equivalency diploma in 1970 and continued to pursue education with passion and purpose. He studied at Brooklyn College, earned a degree in Electronics Circuits and Systems from the Technical Career Institute in 1979, obtained a Private Investigator diploma in 1994, and later completed a Network Engineering program at The Chubb Institute in 2003. His curiosity and drive even led him to aviation studies, where he received certification from the Vaughn College of Aeronautics and Technology.

Robert’s professional journey was as diverse as it was distinguished. He spent more than 15 years at IBM, where he became one of the company’s first African American Second Level Engineering Managers—an accomplishment that reflected both his brilliance and his perseverance. His dedication to service extended into law enforcement, working as a part-time Sheriff for Dutchess County, NY, a Fugitive Recovery Agent, and later a Corrections Officer for Core Civic in Newark, NJ. He also served with the TSS Eastside River Heliport in New York City before concluding his career with the Port Authority of NY/NJ. There, he served honorably as an Operations Services Supervisor until his retirement in 2020 after 17 years of loyal service.

A proud Marine, Robert earned the National Defense Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Rifle Marksman Badge. His punctuality was legendary—famously driving from Poughkeepsie to New Jersey during a snowstorm and being the only employee to arrive on time. His life was filled with passions that reflected his curiosity and skill: photography, classic Mercedes-Benz cars, car restoration, firearms training, and long, peaceful drives on the open road. He honored fellow veterans by treating them to meals on commemorative holidays and by replacing worn flags at soldiers’ burial sites during his shifts at the Port Authority.

Robert was a pillar of strength, combining unwavering integrity with a gentle heart. A hardworking provider, he taught valuable life lessons through patience, example, and quiet wisdom. His actions spoke louder than words, revealing his deep love, steadfast dedication, and the selfless way he protected and guided his family. Robert lived by an unshakable belief that with heart and effort, anything was possible. He broke barriers, mastered new disciplines, and inspired everyone around him with his reliability, thoughtful approach to life, and commitment to excellence. One of his proudest accomplishments was earning his pilot’s license—so meaningful that he adopted the email name “PilotRR.” Whether as a Marine, a manager, a mentor, or the steady rock of his family, Robert lived with purpose and principle. His legacy is one of devotion, courage, and relentless achievement, carried forward in the lives of all who were blessed to know him.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Robert H. Randall and Janice Randall. He leaves to cherish his memory his sons, Makaya Randall (New York) and Naeem Randall (New York); his beloved grandchildren, Makayla Randall, DiAmonte Randall, Nyasia Randall, Nyaire Randall and Nyani Randall. He is also survived by his beloved sister Christine Allen (New Jersey); and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever carry his love, his lessons, and his enduring spirit in their hearts.
